apology, my lucky day, and announcement

First, I want to apologize for my last 2 posts (especially the most recent one). I almost deleted them but then realized that's maybe a little too dramatic. I know everyone is just as busy or even more busy, so I had no reason to complain or make a big deal out of it. ANYWAYS....

I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaron and I hung all my paintings in the HFAC on Monday! I was still finishing paintings Monday morning, and Aaron had to take the day off work, but we got it done! I don't know how I would've ever done it without Aaron. He helped all weekend putting the eye bolts and wire on all of my paintings. Here are a couple pictures, because he looked so cute/manly with his new gloves and drill:

We were hanging paintings all afternoon on Monday. Aaron seriously did most of it... I'll never know how girls put up their shows without a husband! Anyways, after they were all up, we were just sitting and relaxing, waiting for all my title cards/artist statement to be printed off, and we saw this:
2 girls taking pictures of my paintings! Not only was it a little confidence booster, but the whole situation was kinda funny...they had no idea I was sitting right there!

After we got the whole show up and everything was done, Aaron and I celebrated by going out to dinner! You can never go wrong with Olive Garden, so that's where we went. After dinner we came home and used our free redbox code. Aaron gets one every Monday, and every Monday for the past 2 or 3 months we always talk about how we wish we could use it, and we finally did!!!!

Last thing, Monday must've been my lucky day! Remember this painting?:
I submitted this painting into the Mayhew Art Contest a couple weeks ago and I found out last week that it was accepted. This show is also on display in the HFAC (4th floor) for the next couple weeks. But on Monday I also found out that it was given 1 of the 3 Juror's Choice awards! I was super excited and definitely surprised!

Anyways, this is the last thing for real... I wanted to announce that the opening reception for my final show is this Friday (March 6th). It is 6:00 - 9:00 PM and there will be treats! So just come and eat some goodies and look at all the art! There are 4 other shows up so it should be a good party! Hope to see everyone there :)

  1. Whitney!!! Congratulations on your award! Rachel kept telling us how great of an award it is! So PROUD of you! And don't worry about the complaining post...thats what blogs are about! If you have a bad day it takes off a lot of the stress to just write about it! Plus it helps those he read your blog to realize that everyone has bad days! I can't wait to see you and your beautiful paintings on Friday!!!

  2. Congratulations! I wish I could come see it. :) I love that painting that won - it's gorgeous. It's so...right, like very balanced and calming. :) Ha I sound stupid - I don't know anything about art!

  3. Ahh Whitney! That's so awesome! It always feels so good to know that other people like what you work so hard on. I get so nervous before I deliver a wedding cake that the people aren't going to like it, so I know how it feels to have people admire something you like, but wonder if anyone else does. I love your paintings. They're awesome. I wish we could come see them, but we won't be back until Spring semester starts :( Good luck with finishing up your semester and graduating!

  7. Congratulations!!! I'm sure it is such a great feeling having your show all finished and up on display. I wish I could see it in person. You've got to post pictures of all the finished pieces. (Maybe you already have on your art blog. I haven't checked.) And congrats on the Mayhew show! That's awesome.

  10. Whit, I need prints!! How much?? And I agree, you should put all your finished paintings up on your art blog, with full explanations. Maybe Aaron can help type up the explanations, and seriously, he should be your salesman.
