birthdays and novels

Today is my sister Natalie's 12th birthday!!!!!! I can't believe she's already 12! I wish I was home celebrating with her because that girl definitely knows how to have fun. Happy birthday, cutes! Looooove yoooouuuuu!

Last night I finished a NOVEL. I can't even remember the last time I read a novel the whole way through. Uhh...high school??? Anyways, I read "The Winter of our Discontent" by John Steinbeck. Aaron loves Steinbeck and recommended it to me. It was pretty good, but most of all I'm just still so proud of myself that I actually read a book....for fun....!?
I'm really getting into this reading thing these days... I even started another one last night (also recommended to me by Aaron). It's called "Family" and written by Pa Chin. I'm still trying to figure out where I'm getting all this time to read... oh well! Have a great weekend!!!!!!!!! :)

  2. You were always a reader, i thought? Maybe not of novels though...but anyway, my mom loves Steinbeck too, mostly because he lived near San Jose (Los Gatos I think) and down in around Monterey/Salinas/Gilroy. My mom would more than gladly take you on a Steinbeck tour of his past residences. My freshmen high school english teacher was even more obsessed, and made us go down to the Steinbeck museum (yes a field trip in high school), where she donated money to the museum to get her name on a brick at the museum, and she made sure we all looked at her brick...anyyyyyywayyyy point is, you guys should move to northern/central california.
