unemployed

Last Friday was my last day of work. [They only let graduates work for up to 2 weeks after graduation.] We figured since we'll [hopefully] be moving in about 5 weeks, finding another job might not be the best idea unless I want to be a sales rep at APX alarm...yeah right!

I thought it'd be a piece of cake to keep myself busy all day every day, but I'm finding out that spending all day by myself isn't really THAT fun. I was thinking this morning that I wish I had some kids, like teenagers or something...you know, people to hang out with around 3:00 PM when they get home from school.

Anyways, I'm definitely not complaining. This past week I've been able to do all the things that I've been wanting to do for a long time....
  • Visit the Springville Art Museum
  • Go SHOPPING! :) ...and run errands like a crazy lady!
  • Make crazy delicious dinners (i.e. stuffed shells, pizza, mexican shepherd's pie, etc.)
  • Get a new social security card with my new name! (We've been married almost a year and I'm just barely starting to change my name...woo!)
  • Make Mother's Day and birthday gifts for my moms and sistas.
  • Get my hair highlighted (hopefully next week...)
  • Meet Aaron on campus for lunch! :)
After today though, I've officially run out of errands and things to do. Which means....STUDIO TIME! I've done some research and apparently oil paint can potentially cause some problems with the whole having children thing, so I'm thinking maybe I'll try acrylic and/or egg tempera?? I'm not trying to throw out any hints or anything, I'm just sayin... wanna keep myself healthy!

  1. It's okay, I'm sure you'll find something. I would say for now enjoy your time off and go play outside in the sun! :) Did you enjoy the Spring Salon? Did you end up submitting one of your pieces? I looked for you to come in during the entry process but didn't see you so I thought I'd ask. :)

  2. If you are looking for ideas of what to do....go lay out by the pool or get some books from the provo library! I've recently gotten back into recreational reading and am loving it! Of course tonight I suggest going to the dollar theater with an awesome friend ;)

  3. Try egg tempera--that would be cool, just like all of the old school famous artists (if I'm remember right from humanities:)

Being unemployed is wonderful some days and awful others (the key is just having something to accomplish every day I think--even if it's just making dinner), but enjoy it while it lasts!

Also, where are you guys moving?!

  4. Pierce feels the same way about being all by himself... he's seriously bored to death. And here I am working 40 hours a week wishing I could just be bored and by myself all day, running errands and such. Oh, and I would love your yummy dinner recipes! Could you email them to me? stacybrinkerhoff@gmail.com and yes, I haven't changed my name nor my email yet either. :)

  6. I'm the same way.. I start to go crazy if I don't have something to do one day! I'm constantly dragging the kids places just to feel like we are accomplishing things!

You and your cooking! You are so good! I am lucky to make dinner a few times a week and something usually goes wrong in the process! If you have any yummy/somewhat simple recipies I would love you to share!

finally, i wish that were a prego hint! i want a little a&w cousin!

  7. I asked my doctor about oil paints and pregnancy last time I was in, just out of curiosity. She said that the baby is so protected that as long as you're not eating the paint (yikes!), the baby will be fine. She also said if you want to take some extra precautions, you can paint in a well ventilated area and wear gloves so you don't get paint seeping into your skin. Besides that, it's totally fine to paint and be preg. But trying something new might be fun too!!

p.s. we REALLY need to hang out before you move!!!

  8. If you wish you had kids to hang out with, you could always hang out with mine!! Just kidding, you'd probably swear off having children for another 5 years :) Where are you guys moving to? If you ever want to make a fun cake, let me know. I'm always looking for cake buddies!
