my fair lady

Out of all the movies we could get with Netflix, for some reason we chose My Fair Lady to be #1 on our queue last weekend. Mostly because I've never seen it (shocking, I know) and also because we've been talking about watching this movie for at least 2 years now. I've never really been into the old/black&white-type movies very much, but I figured a classic is a classic and My Fair Lady looks/sounded like a fun flick. Sooooo, we watched it Friday night (and finished it Sunday night...apparently we didn't realize it was 3 hours long!) and even though I was not that convinced with Henry Higgins' change of heart at the end, the songs and music were top notch and my favorite character was definitely Mr. Doolittle (Eliza's dad)--he was such a crack up! Any other good classics we should add to our queue?? I love saying "queue" and I love that I've had Wouldn't it be Loverly on repeat for the last 20 minutes! :)

  1. Please tell me you've seen other classic musicals like The Sound of Music (I'm sure you've seen that one...RIGHT?! It's my favorite movie/musical ever), Guys and Dolls, South Pacific, etc.

I hadn't seen Guys and Dolls until last year and I loved it--we now own the movie.

All of those beat My Fair Lady, in my opinion:) I'm a nerd.

  2. "Singing In the Rain" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" If you have not seen either of these, then you have not truly enjoyed a musical. They are definitely my two favs. :)

  7. I have to agree with Amy. If you haven't seen the two she mentioned, get on it. By the way, we had such a great time with you and Aaron the other night. Thanks again for joining us!
