early to rise.

my days have been a little hectic and busy recently, but i've really been loving my early mornings.* i've always been an early riser, and turns out my mom was right all along....the morning really is the most beautiful part of the day. i love getting things done when it seems like the rest of the world is still sleeping and everything is so perfectly quiet.

i've also perfected my granola recipe, and i think making my bed is quickly becoming one of my favorite pastimes. oh, the simplicity of it all.

*i know this all might change when i have children and sleep becomes a much more precious commodity,
but for now i'll just enjoy my early mornings! :)

  2. Mornings and I have become very close in the last month. And dare I say, i woke up at 7 today, and didn't feel like crying when I left my bed. Breakfast, made the bed, took a shower and am ready to get moving. AND it's only 9:30!

  3. i agree. mornings are the most beautiful! i feel like i can accomplish so much more if i wake up and get going vs lounging around and then staying up later.

    beautiful photos as always.

  4. that granola looks awesome. my mom makes me great granola, but one of these days i'm gonna have to venture out and make it myself. so lazy.

  5. It doesn't have to change when you have little ones. I have twin toddlers, and I still love the morning. I love getting up, working out, breakfasting, savoring my cup of coffee--all before my two little loves wake up. I think it makes me a better mama.

It's peaceful, it's quiet, I can feel God in those moments and some days I even make my bed :)

  6. I wish I could get up before my daughter and work! That sounds so still, quiet and nice. I have to feed her at 11pm so I never get to sleep before 11:30pm then she's up at 6! I'll just live vicariously through your photos above that don't have breast pumps in them! =)

  10. I have been 'saying' for a while now that I want to start waking up earlier, because I really do love the morning time. BUT...I have yet to set my alarm earlier, and somehow still seem to hit the snooze button numerous times before waking up ;)

  13. I'm in complete agreeance. There is nothing quite like waking up early and enjoying the morning with a cup of coffee and a book (newspaper for me)

  18. i wake up 45 minutes earlier than i need to just to get the house picked up. i never feel like it when i get home from work, and yes, the morning is so quiet and peaceful.

  23. mmmm... i love the early mornings, too. my problem is that lately, i've gotten in the habit of staying up later than usual just to get things done -- and i'm definitely one of those people who needs 8 hours of sleep. something's gotta give if i want to be up with the sun to enjoy those quiet moments...

  24. I love early mornings as well, though I've gotten into the terrible habit of staying up way too late then waking up much later than I had wished. You've inspired my to change my routine up...and now I'm craving some granola.

  27. I have wanted to be this way my whole life! I really love the mornings. I wish it came naturally, but I really have to wake myself up each and every time. My new work schedule is helping to make it habit, which I hope continues.

    love when that happens.
sadly, i am not a morning person. i can sleep in till the cows come home. my mother told me when i was a baby she had to wake me up bc i never woke up. haha.
(i bet she was grateful for that.)

  33. Wow, homemade granola?! That's impressive! You are so right though - the morning IS the most beautiful time of day. My favorite thing to do is wake up super early on a Sunday morning, make a big breakfast, and enjoy the long day ahead!

  34. Whitney, you've got to share some of your early bird secrets with me! Are there secrets, or do you just go to bed early? I think that my night-owl-ness keeps me from being a morning person.... so maybe I should just work on getting to bed at a more reasonable hour!
