somewhere in my life i've developed this paranoia that if i don't write something down that i'm supposed to do, then i will forget to do it....which is funny because i actually don't consider myself a very forgetful person at all! (aaron might disagree...) anyways, it's turned me into a fanatic list-maker, and instead of trying to fight it i made myself some little notepads since my other ones are almost out of pages. i'm actually trying to overcome my To Do list-making addiction, but until then...at least i have some cute notepads to use! ;)
**i used scrapbook paper for the book jacket, regular computer paper for the inside (cut to size), PVA glue to put it all together, and gold leaf for the "dipped" look. (i use the adhesive size & gold leaf that are shown in this kit.)
p.s. yay for wednesdays! aaron's birthday is this weekend so yesterday i did some birthday shopping for him, and i was having so. much. fun. also i've had waffles for dinner the past 2 nights....?? i'm a big advocate of vegetables, but sometimes a girl just needs her waffles, am i right? :)
ooo, SO clever. love this!
ReplyDeleteThose are the most darling notebooks ever. They look professional.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant.
ReplyDeletethose colors..combined with your nails...perfection.
ReplyDeleteFrom one list-maker to another: kudos! Love these!
ReplyDeleteLOVE
ReplyDeletethese are perfection, whitney! and those color combinations...completely swoon worthy.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with lists. Sometimes I find myself writing down silly things like "shower" as if I'll forget that? haha Love your notebooks! Lovely.
ReplyDeletehaha i do the same! or i'll write something down that i've already done...just to cross it off. it's a real problem! haha
DeleteThese notebooks would make even the most mundane task seem more fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute! Wish I had the patience to do them ;)

Those are really cute. And I'm like you. Sometimes I list the lists that I need to make. And it doesn't matter how many electronic devices I have, I'll always have to write them down on paper. Something about crossing off an item gives me an inexplicable satisfaction.
ReplyDelete"inexplicable satisfaction" is a great way to describe it. i definitely agree :)
DeleteI'm a list maker myself :b Those are too cute!
ReplyDeleteCuteness!
ReplyDeleteyou make it sound so simple! i love the gold 'dipped' look. and your polish is the perfect shade of mint- love it
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these! Must try to make some of my own now..

ReplyDeleteI love these! So cool that you made them too. I LOVE list making. I'm not sure I could ever stop or would i want to, haha. ♥ Lindsay
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! Well done, I must say.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, i have a list making addiction as well. i just use my moleskine planner to write it all down in, but these are so pretty that they're making me reconsider! also, you look adorable, as always :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, you MADE those adorable notepads!? Girl, you should have a business, not even kidding. They're amazingly cute. And I know what you mean about list making. I'm addicted. ;)

ReplyDeletexo TJ
Can I just say that I adore your blog? It's one of my new favorites. :) The dipped gold leaf idea is simply brilliant, by the way. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic, Whitney! I'm totally making some for myself, I have the same to-do list addiction. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am the saaaame way with lists- except I always usually lose whatever I write down, sort of defeating the purpose. What a great idea to make your own notebooks!!
ReplyDeletethese are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute, I love the colors you went with!
ReplyDeleteI feel that way about lists as well! I am constantly finding lists around our apartment that I've forgotten about.
ReplyDeletethese are way too cute. i'm in love. i've become a list maker as well, so this project is right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteand happy birthday to the man!
xo,
Andrea
how awesome is that!!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous. Just repinned one of these images on Pinterest, visited your blog, and realized you were the genius behind it all. LOVE! I need to get some gold leaf - it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful and clever! i love a list making kind of girl...and a waffle kind of girl.
ReplyDeleteI am the exact same way! If I don't have To-Do Lists, I feel like my entire day is going to be a mess (and yet I think I'm always on top of things without them too!) These notepads are so cute by the way! =)
ReplyDeleteI saw you on Meg's blog because she posted about you. I instantly said, "we have to be best friends. She is too cute!" And then I found out you were LDS and knew we were kindred spirits. It's meant to be.
ReplyDeleteThis is so good. I'm sure I'd be more inclined to jot notes down if I had such a pretty notebook. My short term memory's not so great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT whit.
ReplyDeleteI make lists too....but I really do need them. I do good just to remember what I wrote my list on! Your little notebooks have inspired me to "glamorize" my list-making and give me an incentive to keep track of where I put them....so I can find my lists. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow, I am so in love! I am an avid To-Do List Maker, there's something so satisfying about checking something off!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous books!

These are so so adorable! Love them, such a great DIY! :)
ReplyDeletewhere is the kit you are referring to?
ReplyDeleteif you click on the words "this kit" in the second paragraph of this post, it will take you to the website that shows the kit i am referring to. or you can probably find a similar kit at any art supply store.
DeleteWhere did you get the paper from?
ReplyDeletei got the pink paper just from michael's. cost about 33 cents i think....
DeleteOh my goodness! I absolutely LOVE what you've done here with these notebooks, and I definitely want to try something like this to have some funky notebooks in the near future. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea, and they turned out absolutely beautiful! :)
ReplyDeletexo,
Chelsey
Too pretty! I am a bigtime listmaker, too. I need to make some of these!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous blog! I'm so happy I clicked over! xoxo
ReplyDeleteso cute, whitney! x
ReplyDeletethis is all sorts of pretty. i have a bunch of hand-bound books from college and this makes me want to gold-leaf them all up!
ReplyDeletei love these! i especially love the pink + gold. i'm an avid list maker myself and have a tendency to buy notepads faster than i can even fill them up. you've inspired me to make my own.
ReplyDeletehaha! i have the same problem! too many TO DO lists!
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous!! SO in love with these.
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible - you did a beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteThose journals are so incredibly cute - really like it!
ReplyDeletedid i miss something?? how were they bound
ReplyDeletei glued the stack of paper together with a few coats of PVA glue to create the book spine (keeping the paper on the edge of a table, with books & weights on top to keep the pages tight together), then applied another layer of PVA on the spine to attach the book jacket.
DeleteSuch a lovely DIY! I saw this floating around tumblr, but I'm glad to finally have found the original! Thanks for sharing the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSnippets+Sprig

ReplyDeleteI'm one of a gazillion people who've pinned this fabulous tutorial. I didn't pin it to make a journal but because it inspired me to make a fabulous necklace. thank you - really and truly, thank you.
