free-lensing.

happy friday! i used my bedspread as my guinea pig to learn the free-lensing photography technique shown in this post on elsie's blog. so much fun! also, i feel like a broken record every time i say this, but aaron will be traveling again all next week for work. i know it could be much much worse, but oh my goodness i wish he didn't have to leave so often! to make ourselves feel better, this weekend we will most likely be treating ourselves to some mexican food (cinco de mayo!?), good cuddles, netflix, and desserts.....since we all know that any "eat less sugar" goals obviously don't apply on weekends... :) hope you all have a good one!

  13. You have SO MUCH talent. I think I need to post that quote after the day I had today. (giveaway idea??!?) I love your happy yellow version.

It's terrible to be without your husband so often, but it has to make him happy knowing that you miss him so much because you love him so much :) Enjoy Cinco de Mayo!

  18. I love your poster! I recently got a tattoo on my wrist which says "Be brave and be kind" (from The National song Baby, We'll Be Fine), which kind of echoes the same sentiments, but I do love the idea of having it on a poster too. xx

  19. Sounds lovely, bless you. And its true, nothing counts on weekends. Another useful 'tip', it also doesnt count if you chop/break/eat a bit of the dessert first as obviously all the sugar and calories just fall out and blow awaaay :)

    Have a lovely one xxx

  20. I am trying to train myself into being better about food on the weekend...failing miserably so far but I am hoping May is my month. I have to say, all these Cinco De Mayo posts have me craving Mexican like nothing else. As for freelensing...I love it...I always play around with it on my backup cameras :)

  21. Whitney,

I love LOVE this post. We are so alike it's not funny (esp with regards to sugar rules on weekends, but with the exception of veggie addiction - you've encouraged me to work on it though. Re: travelling away for work - hope it goes fast for you both :)

i am inspired to try the photography technique too...
hope you had a great weekend!

  23. This is lovely (then again, so is your whole blog)!

This has inspired me and I went on a free-lensing adventure last night during sunset and came up with some beautiful shots (http://flic.kr/s/aHsjzdZc8A). I love the film-y and tilt-shifty feel this technique produces.

    Thank you for sharing!

  25. Read about you over at Vanilla and Lace today and I can't believe I haven't hear of your blog before now! My fiance and I are getting married at the end of the month and we made a vow to give up sugar the past two months in preparation. We are very good about this... until the weekend comes and we are thrust together cuddling on the couch and watching movies. Like you said, desserts don't count on the weekend!

  26. I love this DIY approach to the free motion lens! And beautiful pictures, by the way!

I'm lucky enough to have won a lensbaby on a giveaway several years ago (it has similar effects). I might need to bust it out now. It's been far too long since I used it last.

  27. I've been trying the free lensing trick, too! I haven't been having much luck though. I suppose I have to be patient though. I'm determined!

And I know what you mean about sounding like a broken record about your guy traveling for work! Mine travels allll the time and I'm always counting down the days until he comes home and blogging Skype screen shots, etc.
He just came home yesterday after being gone for a month and I couldn't be happier!

Hope you had lots and lots of sugar over the weekend! You deserve it. ;)
